Team Try-Outs

Interested in Trying Out for Our Showcase or Xcel Team?

Team Tryouts for our 2025/2026 Showcase and Xcel programs is scheduled for May 4th and 11th, 2025. Previous recreation gymnastics experience is definitely recommended, however a passion for gymnastics and a demonstrated natural strength, flexibility and coordination is a great start! â€‹â€‹

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, we have limited spots available on the teams for girls born in 2016-2021 ONLY.  We are NOT offering tryouts for any other age groups this season.​​

 

Tryout Information â€‹

  • Pre-registration is required online.(Registrations or payment will NOT be accepted on the day of tryouts, registration must be completed ahead of time. Athletes only need to attend 1 tryout. Please do not sign-up for both dates.

  • There is a $20/non-refundable fee for the tryout.

  • Please have your daughter come to tryout on-time, wearing a gymnastic leotard, bare feet, hair tied up, no jewellery. If your daughter does not have a leotard, please dress her in fitted tight bike style shorts, and a tight fitted sports tank. Please NO baggy clothes, ballet skirts, tights, track pants, leggings or sweatshirts.

Key Qualities We Look for in Team Members

​

The following qualities are some of the characteristics our Coaches will consider during the tryouts. There are definitely more factors (and skills!) our Coaches will consider when determining if your daughter is suited for a Showcase or Xcel team.

​

Physical Qualities

  • Innate Strength, Flexibility, Coordination, Balance, Endurance, and Agility.

​

Mental Qualities

  • Determination, Confidence, Courage, Focus, Dedication, and a Strong Work Ethic.

 

Showcase Skill Expectations

  • ​Handstand on floor

  • Cartwheel on floor

  • Back Walkover on floor 

  • Chin-up pullover

​

Xcel Skill Expectations                      Xcel Conditioning

  • Vault: Handstand to flatback

  • Bars: Kip (strap bar is permitted)

                Cast to Horizontal​​

                High bar dismount​

  • Beam: Back walkover/Front walkover           

​                  Full Turn

  • Floor: Back Handspring (Safety mats are permitted)

Showcase Teams require a 10-month commitment, and will train from 4-8 hours/week (depending on age/team). 

Xcel Teams require a 12-month commitment and will train 12hrs/week. These athletes will compete at 3-4 Competitions during the season. ​​​​

  • Handstand on Beam

  • Cartwheel on Beam

  • Splits (Left, Right, Middle)

  • Long Bridge

  • Pike Stretch

  • Straddle Stretch

  • 5-10 Chin-ups (correct form)

  • 5-10 Leg Lifts

  • Full Rope Climb
